Throwback to my cafe hopping to Brotherbird Coffeehouse! The cafe was named 'bird' because the cafe owner was nicknamed bird. It reopened again in January 2021 so I asked my friend if she wanted to come as she was a fan of their croissants. That day, she saw that the croissants did not look that appetizing so we got other dishes instead.
The cafe looked grey-minimalist and was simply decorated. I preferred the window seats as it would give better lighting for my photos but we were seated near the stairs.
1. Signature Mochi Donut ($15)
+my first time trying mochi donut
+refreshing cookie butter soft serve paired with the donut
+crunchy almond flakes
-weird chewy texture
-easily jelak
-jaw gets tired from chewing
-ice cream melts fast
How to make it?
Mochi is made with glutinous rice flour, water, and sugar.
The mochi in this dish was much chewier than the mochi I made.
2. Carbonara
Spaghetti carbonara, poached eggs, garlic chips, bacon
+better than the carbonara out there
+creamy
poached eggs, hollandaise, prosciutto, toasted brioche
+really good
-one of the eggs was slightly overcooked, it should be runny instead.
Overall I enjoyed my meal and I will be back for their croissants next!
