It's my first time at Haidilao and it was a good experience :) The waitress was attentive and initiative in helping us to order and prepare food. For soup bases, we ordered the popular Sichuan mala and fish collagen soup. We chose to have a less oily mala soup base. The mala soup was mouth-watering and heavenly paired with black pork. The fish collagen soup was rich and nutritious.
A robot server!
We ordered the signature shrimp paste, black pork, pork belly, ling ling juan and tofu skin. I highly recommend the shrimp paste 虾滑. The waitress offered to cut the shrimp paste into the soup and she was really good at it.
Soon enough, I said the secret code 我朋友今天生日 and she gave us a bowl of longevity noodles. The noodles were silky and thin paired with fresh tomatoes.
We also ordered handmade noodles ($4) which were QQ and bouncy to chew.
We also ordered the Haidilao mixing sauce which was very flavourful and appetising (very 开胃).
Nearing the end of our meal, I said the second code 可乐熊, limited to availability. The waitress told us alternatively, we could get the rose syrup drink and we were agreeable. The bear was really cute on top of the cookies&cream ice cream. Much to our surprise, the waitress also handed us the lemon meringue tart with a fruit platter as part of the birthday treat.
The lemon meringue tart was not too sweet, not too sour and just nice. The tart took a little while to soften for our plastic forks to cut through.
Overall, it was an enjoyable experience at Jcube Haidilao which was 6 units big. We spent a total of $80 for two-person pax and it was worth it with the freebies given. We were also given hair ties to tie our hair.
