The Populus Coffee & Food Co Cafe Review

I went to the Populus Cafe with my friends and decided to make a cafe review since it is popular among cafe hoppers!

We took the back seats which were perfect for photo taking.

All Day Brunch Menu
1. Populus French Toast (V)

baked vanilla brioche, seasonal fresh fruit, pistachio crumb, scented natural greek yogurt, flowers / 21
seasonal fresh fruit-bananas, strawberries, blueberries
+brioche was crispy at the sides and fluffy on the inside
+greek yogurt was smooth and soft
+large portion
+edible flowers
-caramelized bananas made the inside of the bread soggy
-too sweet for my liking
-too much carbs

How to recreate this dish?
Brioche can be made using a bread maker
Fruits can be obtained from supermarkets
Greek yogurt can be made using milk, yogurt strainer, scoops of yogurt for enzyme action

2. Teriyaki Salmon

roasted teriyaki salmon, flying fish roe, onsen egg / 22
+fresh fish roe
+teriyaki sauce complemented with the salmon
-simple dish that can be found anywhere

How to recreate this dish?
-short-grain rice mixed with rice vinegar to make sushi rice
-grill salmon with teriyaki sauce
-onsen egg with warm water, cold water, dashi, mirin, soysauce
-garnish with pink ginger, purple cabbage, scallions, and cucumber

3. SALADS

Roasted Cod & Soba

roasted cod loin, chilled soba noodles, mixed mushrooms,

lightly pickled vegetables, edamame, lime & sesame dressing / 24
+cod is affordable at this price
-cod taste bland and not fresh
-not a fan of soba noodles

-roast cod
-garnish with edamame
-soba noodles would require Mentsuyu

I'm sharing my study tips because I could not find much before I did the test. There were no useful guides in helping me in QET test back then in 2018 so I thought of writing this blog post.
